Dr. Sharron K. JenkinsBiophysical Chemist | Health & Weight Loss Strategist | STEM Education Consultant | Recording Artist

Dr. Sharron K. Jenkins is a Ph.D. Biophysical Chemist whose career spans over 25 years of research, teaching, and community health advocacy. She earned her B.S. in Chemistry from North Carolina A&T State University, where she was crowned Miss North Carolina A&T State University and later competed as Miss NBCA Hall of Fame, the national HBCU Queen’s Scholarship Competition. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Chemistry at Loyola University of Chicago, focusing on the biophysics of sickle cell hemoglobin oxidation.
As a tenured professor at Purdue University North Central (now Northwest) and later a full professor of chemistry at Georgia Gwinnett College, Dr. Jenkins combined rigorous laboratory research with transformative teaching. She served as Campus Director and Co-PI of a $3M NSF LSAMP grant, mentoring minority students in STEM and directing interdisciplinary research initiatives. Her work has appeared in journals ranging from The Biophysical Journal to The International Journal of Health, Wellness, and Society.
A pioneer in distance education, Dr. Jenkins developed one of the first internationally synchronized online college-credit courses on HIV/AIDS education, taught simultaneously in the U.S. and South Africa. She has presented research globally, collaborated with institutions such as Morehouse School of Medicine and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and led HIV prevention campaigns across the U.S. and abroad.
Her entrepreneurial outreach extends beyond academia. As founder of IRISE Research & Discovery Science, she has written the Zakiah & Professor Jenkins children’s STEM storybook series and led boot camps, summer programs, and PBS-featured workshops that bring authentic science into K–12 classrooms. As founder of BioFit-360: The Metabolic Reset, she translates her biochemical expertise into nutrition and fasting programs that have helped clients achieve rapid weight loss, lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol, reverse autoimmune flares, and reclaim their health.
Dr. Jenkins’ journey is also deeply personal. After battling Crohn’s disease, lupus, IBS, arthritis, and severe allergies, she turned to holistic nutrition and fasting, healing herself without conventional medication. This lived experience fuels her mission to guide others through metabolic healing, using what she calls “Metabolic Cycling”—training the body to move in and out of fat-burning and glucose-burning states for resilience, balance, and restoration.
Her impact is not confined to science. Music has been her solace since childhood - she's "self-taught" - writing, producing, and releasing her music. As a recording artist, she has released several singles including Yes, Saved, and And Still I Rise—her rendition of Maya Angelou’s poem, which charted in popularity and is featured on Maya Angelou’s official website. She has performed nationwide, appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and been profiled in Jet and Ebony Magazine. For Dr. Jenkins, music is a calling—a way to bring healing and inspiration alongside her scientific work. Artist Website: https://www.iamsharron.com/
